Not All Pāreu are Created Equally!

Over the years, I've been on a quest for the best pāreu. I started dancing at a young age, and quickly realized that not all pāreu were created equally. I understood that a dancer needs the perfect balance of movement and weight in the fabric, without being too thick or see-through. I started learning about fabric qualities and discovered that rayon, like most fabric, came in different quality grades. Thats when I knew, I had to find premium grade rayon. The problem was, its really hard to source premium grade rayon in the U.S, because theres no demand for it. It is however, extremely popular in Indonesia. Most of your pāreu comes from there. And there's absolutely nothing wrong with that! In fact, a lot of the fabric imported to Tahiti comes from there too! Is it possible to find pāreu cheaper for $22, yes. Will it be premium quality? Most likely no. Pricing usually depends on the sourcing and quality of the fabric. Its up to every dancer what they prefer. In Tahiti, they prefer premium quality rayon, because they wear it in a single layer and like to feel the weight of the fabric when they dance. Pāreu that is too thin will not only be see-through, but will lack that weight to keep the pāreu down when dancing. I always work a little harder to source the best for you, because I believe quality matters. When you buy From The Fenua pāreu made by Mama Violette, you're not only getting premium quality rayon, but you're helping a local Polynesian small business.
