It's been a long journey here. When I began Mohea Designs, I was excited to bring authentic costume making to dancers outside of Tahiti. While my business grew, I started sourcing materials directly with suppliers. Over the years, I discovered that most of our materials were sourced outside of the very place we thought! Nothing, from shells, to feathers, to even pāreu were from Tahiti! At some point I thought, "this doesn't feel right." For the last 8 years, I've been going to Tahiti trying to find direct suppliers for our costume needs. It took years, but I was able to build genuine relationships with some of the most talented crafters and artisans in Tahiti. Everything you find here will have been sourced directly from the fenua. I will share the stories of these talented crafters and artists as well as show you behind the scenes footage of their creation process. This is the most genuine business I've been able to be apart of and I'm thrilled to take you on this journey with me. We often ask ourselves what our purpose is? Okay, so I don't really have an answer to that one, but what I can say is, your purchase is directly supporting someone from Tahiti. For me, that's a beautiful purpose to have.
